JOIN US AS WE CELEBRATE THE ENCHANTMENT OF THE NATURAL WORLD! Stroll through the village in search of fairy houses, fairy gardens, whimsical critters, birds and birdhouses, wood spirits, and toadhouses, miniatures, forest creatures, wonderful plants and fantasy galore.
SPECIAL FAIRY HOUSE & FAIRY GARDEN ACTIVITIES
*Fairy House & Garden Building at The Log Cabin Gallery 1:30-2:30 pm Preregistration needed. Materials are also needed for this Make and Take event. * Build a fairy house ($5 materials fee) at Heritage Farms and enjoy all of the events during Fairy Fun Day. *Find out your fairy name at the Cuyahoga Valley Historical Museum *Take in a movie and eat some fairy snacks at the Peninsula Library *Make and take a fairy folk craft for kids ages 5 and up from 10 am - Noon at the Peninsula Library. Preregistration needed. *Receive a FREE ticket to ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad this summer. Every child who returns a completed map at Heritage Farms will receive a FREE CVSR ticket.
FIND THE FAIRY HOUSES THROUGHOUT THE VILLAGE! Pick up a map at participating businesses or venture on your own. Find all of the fairy houses throughout the Village. Look closely. They are not always easy to find. But the woodland fairies know what we have created for them! Then vote for your favorite fairy house, fill out the information, and turn it in at Heritage Farms. Every child who returns a completed form will receive a FREE ticket to ride CVSR this summer! Take your fairy map home along with inspiration for building your own fairy house. While you are strolling around Peninsula, stop by the Cuyahoga Valley Historical Museum to find out your fairy name and take a look around the museum for a hidden fairy house! Peninsula Explorer--Ride the rails, take a hike along the Towpath Trail, explore the Village of Peninsula, and enjoy lunch or shopping. On May 22, 23, 28, 29 & 30 enjoy a 25-minute train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine. Meet Sir Topham Hatt and enjoy clowns, magicians, live music, storytelling, and other fun activities. Advance purchase is recommended. Even Thomas the Tank Engine will make visits to Peninsula during Spring Stroll. He'll arrive unannounced a few times during the day down by the Peninsula Depot.

Then stroll inside and make a craft and take in a movie and eat some fairy snacks! 10 am - Noon Kids Fairy Crafts Stop by the library for make and take crafts. The Log Cabin Gallery, 330-657-2670 web-site The Spring Whimsy Exhibit features 19 artists in a variety of mediums celebrating the enchantment of spring, the wonder of fairy houses and fairy gardens, and the whimsical creatures in nature. The Spring Whimsy exhibit runs Friday, May 7 thru Sunday, June 13 Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 11 am until 5 pm. Join us at the Cabin on Saturday, May 22 from 1:30 - 2:30 pm for Make & Take Fairy House & Garden Building. Pick a partner of any age or create on your own. Bring along any natural materials you have found on the Earth's floor for sharing. We will have materials available for building also. (Please do not forage in the CVNP. Keep the wilderness as it is.) This event is free but you must preregister and you will need to bring some supplies with you. details You will need to bring with you--1) A box or basket that measures between 1 foot by 1 foot by 5 inches deep and 2 foot by 2 foot by 6 inches. Make sure you can carry the box or basket once it is filled with a fairy house/garden. 2) Either green dry floral foam, or play dough (although play dough cracks when it dries), or air drying Model Magic, or air-drying Activa Activ-Clay.
